Dream of a Sweet Rain is a fantasy manga that revolves around Danyoung, a doctor who runs the clinic Sanwoon-dang. Danyoung is tasked with treating a mysterious man named Baek-gyeom who may be connected to her father's enemy. However, the medicine used for Baek-gyeom's treatment has the unintended side effect of increasing his lust. As a result, Baek-gyeom frequently makes inappropriate advances towards Danyoung. Although, Initially Danyoung. is disturbed by Baek-gyeom's behavior, she cannot refuse to treat him as that would go against her duty as a doctor. Hence, Danyoung continues monitoring Baek-gyeom while he stays at the Sanwoon-dang in hopes that his condition will improve and his uncontrollable urges will subside. In the meantime, Danyoung learns more about Baek-gyeom's mysterious past and his connection to the spirits that seem to be antagonizing her father. Moreover, Baek-gyeom's condition seems to trigger supernatural events that threaten the clinic. Therefore, Danyoung has to find a cure for Baek-gyeom before his presence brings harm to the Sanwoon-dang or its inhabitants. Throughout the story, Danyoung grapples with her duty as a doctor versus her own safety. Although Baek-gyeom's advances make her uncomfortable Danyoung cannot turn him away or cease his treatment. At the same time, the spirits that appear to have a hold over Baek-gyeom pose a threat to Danyoung and her home. Danyoung has to navigate this dilemma delicately without compromising her medical ethics or the safety of her loved ones. Overall, Dream of a Sweet Rain is a fantasy manga that explores the conflict between duty and self-preservation through the lens of a determined female doctor caught in a supernatural bind.
